Qld: Two suicide boys is the tip of the iceberg: Opposition says

The Queensland Opposition says the recent suicide of two boys reportedly listed with
the Department of Child Safety as being at serious risk is just the tip of the iceberg.

The boys -- aged 12 and 14 -- reportedly took their own lives in unrelated incidents
in the past three months.

This is despite having been assessed as Category One concerns which meant the boys
needed urgent attention.

Opposition Child Safety spokeswoman ROSEMARY MENKENS says the BEATTIE government is
failing to look after the state's children.

Ms MENKENS says the government is lagging behind in providing adequate resources in
the Toowoomba Child Safety office to address a backlog of more than 500 case files.
